Bird Watching at Good Contrivance Farm, led by Chip Blake
The board and staff of Good Contrivance Farm invite you to join us for a very special fundraiser in support of the Good Contrivance Farm Writer’s Retreat, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. H. Emerson “Chip” Blake, author and longtime editor of Orion Magazine, will lead a bird watching tour on the farm during one of the best times for birders in the Mid-Atlantic.
Your $30 donation to the Writer’s Retreat at Good Contrivance Farm gets you access to the birding tour, comes with coffee and bagels, and will give participants an opportunity to see which migrating species visit Good Contrivance Farm during the fall migration.
Chip Blake is an independent editor, writer, book coach, and writing instructor. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of Orion magazine, an award-winning bimonthly magazine dedicated to arts, culture, and environment; and as the Editor-in-Chief of Milkweed Editions, a nonprofit book publisher. Books and articles he has edited have been nominated for or won the Pushcart Prize, the PEN Literary Award, PEN-New England Discovery Prize, the John Oakes Award in Environmental Journalism, the John Burroughs Medal, the Minnesota Book Award, the Oregon Book Award, and The New York Times Notable Book of the Year. He was the founder of the Orion Writing Workshop and has served on the faculty of many writers’ conferences. He lives in New York’s Hudson Valley. Please see www.chipblake.com.
