The School House at Good Contrivance Farm

is an all-season programming/writing space in a building designed after American one-room school houses of the nineteenth century. It sits on a 120-year-old stone foundation, has spectacular views through tall windows, boasts several stained-glass windows, has state-of-the-art heating and cooling, wi-fi, state-of-the-art sound system, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. We conduct our writing workshops here.

The School House will be available for day or evening use rentals, as follows:

Rental to one writer, from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM: $50. 

Rental to one writer, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM: $50. 

This is a spacious, exceptional workspace for writers who want solitude and beauty. 

Each additional writer must pay $15. 

This pricing is designed to encourage you to gather here with your reading or workshop group.

Maximum capacity is 12. (at a cost of  $215).

The Schoolhouse is available in two configurations: workshop (tables and chairs) or living room (lounge chairs in a circle).

    Cancellation policy:
    You may cancel your workshop reservation up to 7 days before your reserved time and receive a full refund.
    You may cancel up to 4 days before your reserved time for half a refund.
    We cannot offer a refund for cancelations 3 days or fewer before your reservation.

    Fees are $50 for the first writer, $15 for each additional writer.

    Check-in is at 9:00 AM; check-out is 6:00 PM
    You may park in any empty spot in the parking area.

    Farm Rules:
    1) Please, no pets. No exceptions.
    2) No "guests." No exceptions.
    2) You are free to walk the farm grounds but be aware: as this is a farm, our guests understand that care must be taken while walking anywhere on the property, as there are holes, rocks, uneven floors and pavements, thorns, downed branches and trees, poison ivy & other irritating plants, as well as wild animals, including snakes, insects, and various birds and mammals. Sensible shoes and comfortable clothing are a must. High heels and bare feet are prohibited while on the grounds.
    3) You're free to come and go throughout the day, as needed.
    4) Usually the farm entrance gate is closed with a chain--but never locked. As you enter or exit, leave the gate as you found it.
    5) Please do not enter any other farm building
    6) As a guest, you agree to hold the owners free and harmless from any and all liability for claims for damages, or other claims for personal injury while at the farm.
