This summer and fall, poet Liz Hazen will be reviewing partial poetry manuscripts as a fundraiser for Good Contrivance Farm, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving GCF’s historic Maryland farm property while serving the local literary community through low-cost residencies, affordable writing workshops, and free craft talks by some of today’s most celebrated authors.
All proceeds will benefit the farm, and in exchange for your charitable donation, you’ll receive a markup of up to 12 pages of poems, an editorial letter from Liz, and a 30-minute Zoom consultation to talk about your work, your goals, and where you might consider submitting your poems for publication.

About Liz:

Liz Hazen is a poet and essayist with 25 years of teaching experience in both secondary and college-level classrooms. She has taught English and creative writing courses at Maryvale Preparatory School, Calvert School, Carver Center, Johns Hopkins University, University of Baltimore, and Loyola. She currently teaches poetry at Roxbury Correctional Institution through the Goucher Prison Education Partnership and at the International Writers’ Collective.
In addition to teaching, she freelances as a writer and editor. Most recently, her articles have appeared in BmoreArt Magazine, Baltimore Fishbowl, and Johns Hopkins Magazine. Her essays and poetry have appeared in Best American Poetry, Epoch, American Literary Review, Shenandoah, Fourth Genre, and other journals. She has published three collections of poetry: Chaos Theories (2016), Girls Like Us (2020), and The Sky Will Hold (2026).
Liz is also serves as treasurer on the board at Good Contrivance Farm, and 100% of proceeds raised via this manuscript consultation fundraiser will go to Good Contrivance Farm to support its mission of preserving its historic farm property for future generations while offering affordable residency space, workshops, and free craft talks to the public.
Scheduling your Zoom Consultation:

She will work with you to determine a mutually agreeable time, and once it’s set, she’ll provide a Zoom link and calendar invitation for your consultation.
